2. Playing without publishing

Computer games and local two-player games on one iPhone work offline and without registration with e-lector. The computer opponent runs on the device. The app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs and does not use an advertising identifier. Music and sounds are bundled with the app and are not streamed. The app does not request access to location, camera, microphone or contacts and does not send push notifications.

3. Data on your iPhone

The app stores saved games, the game variant, difficulty, move history, reserves, results and statistics, as well as language and audio settings locally. For scoring, it also stores identifiers of completed games, a random installation identifier, point totals and information about the daily bonus. When you use the leaderboard, this includes your nickname, publication choice and a pseudonymous account association.

This storage supports the requested game functionality, continuing games and correct scoring (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Necessary storage on the device is based on section 25(2), no. 2 of the German TDDDG. Data remains stored until the app data or the app is deleted. Depending on your device settings, it may form part of a device or iCloud backup; Apple manages those backups. Offloading an app does not delete its data.

4. Optional global leaderboard via Apple CloudKit

The leaderboard uses Apple's public CloudKit database. Opening or refreshing it downloads leaderboard data over the internet; Apple processes technically necessary connection data such as the IP address. This also happens if you do not publish your own entry. Retrieval serves the leaderboard functionality you expressly request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Your own entry is created only after you consent to publication. This requires being signed into iCloud on the device and choosing a nickname. Please do not use your real name or other confidential information. Once publication is enabled, eligible computer games already recorded locally are included and later results are updated automatically. Local two-player games and tutorials do not count.

For each game variant, the following are published: nickname, points, numbers of wins, draws and games, and the update timestamp. For administration, the public database also contains the game variant and rules version, a pseudonymous identifier derived from the CloudKit user identifier, installation-related identifiers with accumulated scoring contributions, and technical CloudKit record metadata. Full move histories are not uploaded.

The app displays up to 50 entries per variant. The public database can be read even without publishing your own entry; technically, visibility is not limited to the fields displayed in the app. A pseudonymous identifier does not mean complete anonymity. Publication and automatic updates are based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

5. Withdrawing consent and deleting entries

You can disable publication at any time in the leaderboard screen. This stops future publication from that device but does not delete existing public entries. To remove them, also use the option to delete all three entries. This deletes the Classic, Diagonal and Free entries for the signed-in iCloud account and disables publication on that device. If a connection error occurs, you may need to retry; check the success message.

Your local points are retained. Enabling publication again may publish them again. If you use other devices with publication enabled, disable it there too to prevent entries from being recreated. Deleting the app alone does not remove public leaderboard entries. Unless you request deletion, entries remain stored for operating the leaderboard; there is no automatic deletion period for inactivity. Contact our support team if you encounter problems or wish to withdraw consent by email. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

6. Apple, recipients and international processing

Apple provides the CloudKit infrastructure and processes leaderboard and technical connection data. Other users can read public entries. LECTOR GmbH remains responsible for the leaderboard we provide. Apple's own privacy information additionally applies to Apple accounts, the App Store, device backups and other Apple services.

Apple services may involve processing outside the European Economic Area. Apple describes the entities involved and safeguards for international transfers, including standard contractual clauses, in its privacy policy. The applicable requirements of Articles 44 et seq. GDPR apply. We do not receive your Apple account login credentials or passwords.

7. Website and hosting

e-lector.de is operated through united-domains GmbH using IONOS SE's webspace infrastructure. Access generates technical data, including the requested page, time, browser and device details, and IP address. According to the hosting provider's privacy information for the webspace package (German), IONOS stores access data with anonymised IP addresses for eight weeks for security and stability.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and reliable website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Our pages load images, fonts and styles locally and contain no tracking or advertising cookies, analytics tools or externally embedded videos introduced by us. Section 25(2), no. 2 TDDDG applies to strictly necessary device storage. External links connect to the respective service only when opened.

8. Support

If you contact us, we process your email address and the information you voluntarily provide to handle your request. Please do not send passwords or unnecessary personal data; redact such details in screenshots. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for contract-related matters, otherwise Article 6(1)(f) GDPR based on our interest in handling enquiries. Recipients may include the email service providers used for communication.

We retain correspondence for as long as necessary to handle the request and, where appropriate, follow-up questions. Statutory retention duties or the necessary protection of legal claims may justify longer storage; the data is then deleted.

9. Your rights

Subject to the statutory conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. Where processing is based on legitimate interests, you may object on grounds relating to your particular situation. Please contact support@e-lector.de.

You can lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular the Independent Data Protection Centre Saarland. There is no automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR. Participation in the public ranking is optional; you can continue to play locally without it.
